What does peering mean?

Peering refers to the cost-neutral exchange of data between providers, for example networks, such as carriers, internet service providers (ISPs) and network operators. Data exchange takes place at the internet service points (also referred to as peering points). By connecting directly to several hundred networks at the same time, crowded transit routes can be avoided and data packets are transmitted in a direct and time-efficient manner. Overall, direct data transmission improves the network quality of all networks connected to the internet exchange point and, in turn, the user experience of all users.

What are the distinguishing features of a hybrid cloud solution?

Hybrid solutions are a combination of a private cloud and one or more public cloud services. Hybrid solutions enable organizations to leverage the high-speed computing resources of managed public clouds while storing sensitive data in a private cloud or in on-site data centers. The hybrid cloud architecture can manage and integrate public and private cloud resources individually, thereby minimizing redundant processes. The hybrid cloud architecture also mitigates many security risks by limiting the number of interfaces between private data and the public cloud.

What is a cloud service provider?

Cloud service providers are third-party companies that provide cloud-based platforms, infrastructure, applications, or storage services. Examples include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Cloud service providers have their own data centers and computing resources. The pricing model is flexible and scalable for the customer. Essentially, you only pay for the storage capacity you actually use.
